Peaks Mt. Magalloway, NH
Trails
Trails: Coot Trail, summit overlook paths, Bobcat Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Tuesday, August 3, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I came from the Rangeley area, so took a different route than most people. Parmachenee Road and Magalloway Road were in great shape! Tower Road was slow and tough, with some sharp rocks, minor washouts and major mud puddles. Any vehicle with decent ground clearance should be able to handle it with care.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Major blowdown area on upper Bobcat Trail. The worst section has a well established path around it. There are three other blowdowns on the main trail in that section. I was easily able to climb over them. The esteemed webmaster of this site may have needed to crawl under them :)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Would be a fine hike for dogs, except the fire tower :)

Comments
Comments: Went up the Coot Trail, which is essentially a steep road. Footing was fine for ascending. May have been a bit slippery to descend, as it was muddy. Climbed the fire tower and wandered around the summit area to two nice viewpoints. Also caught a nice viewpoint on the upper Bobcat Trail, which was in good condition, except for a couple of extremely muddy sections and the aforementioned blowdown section. Highly recommend ascending Coot and descending Bobcat.
