Get there early. Arrived at 8am to almost a mile of cars. When we left at 3p cars span well past the fork in the road. I’d estimate some added about 2 miles road walk onto their hike. |

Great hike of a beautiful trail & summit. Nice moderate trail to the summit of Moosilauke. There are parts of this loop that are downright easy. Of course, as you are approaching treeline trail inclines at a steadier pace just to remind you that it is indeed a 4000 Footer. Lots of mud along stretches of the upper Gorge Brook Trail and Carriage Rd. Gorgeous views from a windy summit. Even in July you need those layers. Even wished I had my light weight mittens. South Peak is worth the extra, short, effort. My knees quite appreciated the gradual descent on Carriage Rd and Snapper. |
