Despite the rainy forecast, I decided to venture out. Was debating between Waumbek or Moriah. Figured moriah would be a little wet at the top, so I'll save it for a bluer day. Some traffic on 95 slowed me down, arrived at the trailhead very late. Found a parking spot road side. Went up with my pitbull mix, who was very happy to see many friendly people and dogs. Trail was mostly dry going up with some muddy spots, very humid day foday. At the summit of Waumbek, the views were very limited due to heavy cloud coverage, but it was windless and slightly warm. Some trash at the top:( hidden away in the ferns. Going down wasn't bad, started to rain but the tree canopy on top kept us dry.
Saw some people hiking in sandels and jeans, hope they made it out okay! Did not look like they knew what they were doing. |
