 | Dog-Related Notes: |
easy dog route but bring water! Also, the 1.6 mile road walk on route 16 is not ideal with a dog I would imagine. The shoulder is extremely narrow in places |

In my opinion I did this loop in the wrong direction! I ran down 16 to Hutmens and ascended that way. It is wide, smooth cross country ski trails all the way up to Hall's Ledge. Almost no rocks anywhere it would have been awesome to run down this way instead of the mellow uphill walk (except 400' steep section near bottom). About 20% of this section had very luxuriant undergrowth (grass and ferns no thorny stuff). It was saturated from rain so m the waist down I was absolutely soaked pretty early on. Great view from field right above Hall's Ledge. From the ledge down to route 16 it is typical rocky White Mountain trail. There is about 600' of very steep near the bottom. Good rainy day to redline these seldom used trails that I had all to myself today. |
