 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Roaring Brook. Baxter isn't the kind of park where you can pull up without a reservation and expect to be admitted. If you're not staying in the park you will need to get a parking pass. Go to the park's website for more details. We stayed at one of the park's campgrounds and didn't need to wait in line at the gatehouse. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Nothing of note. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I don't recall seeing any blowdowns. Blazes could use some updating on both Saddle and Hamlin Basin Trails. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Sparkey and Fido are not welcome at Baxter. Again, consult the park's website. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Plenty in the parking lot and the lower sections of Chimney Pond Trail, both at 7:30 am and at 6:00 pm. |

 | Comments: |
A beautiful sunny day with high winds on the ridge. We helped a friend celebrate finishing his NE67! At Chimney Pond there's water available (bring your filter!) a restroom, and a ranger to answer questions. Hamlin Ridge Trail is quite the descent and makes Caps Ridge look like a bunny slope. One of the nicer points of there being limited access to Baxter is that there weren't very many other hikers around. |
