Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The Bennett Street lot on Sunday morning was completely full, we had to get inventive to make ourselves a space. When we returned Monday afternoon the only other vehicle there was a NPS pickup truck.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock
Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Any crossings were pretty dry so were no problem.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Occasional blowdowns were mostly stepovers that can be left to make the trail interesting. However there were 3 blowdowns of note that appeared fairly recent and should be dealt with. On the Guinea Pond Trail, about halfway between the FMPT junction and the BMPT junction there is a sizeable beech blowdown that is a little difficult to negotiate. We improved it somewhat by cutting and removing some of the smaller branches. Then on the BMPT about a mile from the GMPT junction there is a big maple blowdown that is a nuisance as it can be crawled under but I had to remove my pack to do so. Then further along the BMPT, about a half mile north of Mary Cary Falls there is a Spruce blowdown that can be ducked under. Other than that, we noticed many water bars along the route were freshly maintained.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Deer flies were a constant nuisance. And ticks were really plentiful, especially in the lower elevation trails which were grassy. Camo picked off more ticks than his fair share, maybe because he was usually in the lead and they jumped on him first.

Comments
Comments: Hot and humid. The note about Wet/Slippery Rock was because the cool rocks protruding from the trailbed were collecting condensation because of the high humidity. A great Waterville 125 Redlining trip. We saw one hiker and his dog about 5 minutes in from the trailhead and that was it, just one other human the entire trip. We saw an equal number of moose (at Black Mountain Pond, at dusk). Mary Cary Falls was completely dry. Guinea Pond was pretty muddy. Black Mountain Pond was beautiful.
Thanks to Camo and Lone Wolf for a great trek.
