|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The west side of the loop between Bennett St trailhead and the pond appears newly brushed and in great shape. Same for Gleason Trail. To the east of the pond down to McCrillis Trail, the trail is rougher by nature and could use a brushing, although easy to follow. One recent stepover blowdown about .3 mile north of McCrillis trail jct. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |

|
 | Bugs: |
Almost no bugs! Just a few biting horseflies at the north end of the pond and a few mosquitoes on the walkout from the McCrillis trail junction to Whiteface Intervale Rd. |

Great sunny day!Clockwise loop. The west and east side topography of the Flat Mtn loop are totally different, which was interesting. The west is a former rail/woods road cut high up the slope and the east is a typical White Mtn rocky layout in parts and tracking adjacent to the brook. Had a nice conversation with a permanent staff ranger at the pond re trail patrol and campsite maintenance. Also met two parties of local residents, one having overnighted in the pond shelter, with nice conversations with both parties. Both groups commented on the increased usage they're seeing on local trails. The road walk back to the Bennett St lot was broken up by another conversation with a local roadbiking resident new to the area who wanted some beta on trails. Fun day! |
