Nice day to hike good breeze and not too hot and trails were dry, flowers are going by and it was wonderful to have Carter Ledge Trail freshly brushed out. Nice old signs and all the blazes seriously faded to almost invisible (this is true for all the trails). We didn't see anyone on the trail until we hit the summit of Middle Sister and they ignored us. There were a few people on the summit of Chocorua, we tagged the summit and left heading down Liberty Trail to take the WestSide Trail back to the Piper Trail. West Side needs brushing. Piper Trail feels like a road, wide trail with nice rock steps and well graded with bridges over the streams. Since this was a redling adventure for Bria we hauled ourselves up the Camp Penacook Spur. View sure has grown in! Privy and shelter in nice condition and water source still has a trickle with small clear pool. We passed by a lot of people coming up and going down Piper Trail. We had a wonderful day topped off by taking a dip in Chocorua Lake near the bridge on Fowler Mill Road. The cool water felt great. |
