It was an unusual three season hike that started with fall like temperatures. I enjoyed the Boott Spur trail with its variations of terrain and several outlooks. At tree line it was windy and cold with winter like conditions requiring layering and covering up. The wind was strong and gusting to the point of almost pushing me around. My pack thermometer said 43 degrees. Continuing the loop on the Davis Path was challenging as I was going directly into the wind. Eventually got over to the Alpine Garden Trail to check out what was in bloom. Had a good look at the remaining snow in the ravine. Finished the loop on the Lion Head and Tuckermann Ravine trails where it was more summer like in the upper 60s. |
