Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No notable river crossings - all rock hoppable. Marshy cross on Guinea Pond Trail (NE section) and another on the Guinea Pond Spur. We were able to stay dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I believe we noted a new blowdown on Black Mtn Pond Trail near Black Mtn Pond
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Chose to leave dog home for the upper section of Black Mtn Pond Trail, and it was a good decision. Not sure he could've made it up some of the scrambles..
Bugs
Bugs: Lots of ticks! Guinea Pond & Black Mtn Pond Trails are brushy and the ticks are ready to pounce. Otherwise, mosquitos and flies weren't actually too bad.

Comments
Comments: Did a clockwise loop from Jose's Bridge via Guinea Pond Trail (NE section) > Black Mtn Pond Trail > Upper Algonquin > Bennett Street Trail... and stayed on Bennet Street (the lower route) back to Jose's Bridge. Long day, but very enjoyable and covered lots of new trail! A few spots on Guinea Pond made us stop briefly to look where the trail continued, but was never too difficult to tell. Upper Black Mtn Pond Tr is definitely scrambly past the pond. Enjoyed the views of Algonquin and the summit of Sandwich, and then were surprised to find how mellow of a trail Bennett Street was. Great day!
