| Water Crossing Notes: |
Most brook crossings on the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail are bridged. The upper brook crossing was easy on rocks. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A three log bridge over a brook on the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail is damaged although it is still functional. One tree fall across the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail in the first re-route section at the beginning of the trail. This is a straddle over. There are some trees across the trail high above the surface that are not problematic at this time of year. Some shallow erosion on the trail. There are lots of water diversion ditches.
The Wildcat Ridge Trail from Nineteen Mile Brook Trail to Wildcat D is free of obstructions. The mostly rocky surfaces translates to very little erosion.

| Comments: |
The Nineteen Mile Brook Trail is a rather easy hike and is heavily used. The grades are easy to moderate with reasonably good footing.
The Wildcat Ridge Trail from Nineteen Mile Brook Trail up to Wildcat A is very steep (1,100' in 0.7 miles) yet the excellent footing with lots of rocks steps makes hiking this section secure when dry. The Wildcat Ridge Trail from Wildcat A to Wildcat D is rugged with many ups and downs. There are some bog bridges that are in generally good condition. There are good views from Wildcat A and Wildcat D as well as from various points along the ridge. One of the solar panels at the Wildcat D observation deck appears to be damaged and on the ground.
Saw Bunchberry, Blue Bead Lily, Star Flower, Canada Mayflower, and one Lady's Slipper in bloom.
Many hikers on the trails including Bill & Diane Schor (Schorman & Di), Sandy (Sleeveless) and Barbara, a couple from Londonderry, brothers from Lancaster/Franconia, AMC Pinkham Notch employee, three Carter Notch croo members, hikers going from Wildcat thru Moriah, AT thru hikers, and others. |
