Excellent day for the Hancocks.First time ascending from the South side of route and enjoyed the change of pace. After the North Peak I followed a faint herdpath to NW Hancock. This was tough to follow with some thick growth and many blowdowns.ended up whacking for the most part until 2000 feet to the summit managing to find herdpath again. The route taken pretty much followed a ridge line.Summit register was dry and approx half full despite baggie holding had a hole. The canister does a great job keeping things dry. on the return trip I had a much better time following herdpath losing it just a few times rejoining Hancock Loop Trail approx 200 feet from where I went in. Quiet day on the trails I met only 4 others enjoying this fine day. *Would not attempt NW Hancock without Navigation. |
