Cooper had a great time as usual. Muddy spots on Unknown Pond trail are not as easily avoidable for dogs. I can direct Coop around most, but several were not passable for him w/o stepping in the mud. Good water crossing towards end to clean off paws was a big plus. |

They are out there. Had lots of spray on and all gear sprayed w/Sawyers (Coop's vest was sprayed as well and we didn't see any ticks). Bugs at Horn summit. |

Was surprised to see only 7 people all day (3 back packers and 2 other pair of hikers). Compared to the crowds at the other peaks, the extra drive allows one to really be alone in the woods. Nice gradual ascent to Cabot summit; didn't decide to continue on to the Bulge and Horn until at summit, and was glad I did. Both are easy very gradual ascents, just minor boulder climb to get on the summit of the Horn. 360 Views are well worth the effort. Additionally, the hike through the Kilkenny Ridge Trail over to the pond was really nice. Lots of different bird sightings!! And the usual wildflowers. Indications of moose present, but I didn't see any. View at pond is nice; but trail out is long with patches of mud. |
