| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty , looks like a tree came down recently and wrecked the fence. It had been moved into the woods. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water is very low, rain forecasted Monday and Tuesday. The rivers really need some water. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Ran into a forest service volunteer maintaining Stoney Brook. Looked like he had cleared some water bars down low. Great to be able to say “ thank you†.Further up the trail I was looking down at my feet and bumped my head on a birch across the path. Tom used his saw to remove it so nobody else would do the same. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Only saw a few on their way out from Imp shelter, all were very happily moving along. |
| Bugs: |
Bug spray and head nets were useful when stopped along the river down low. Black flies were looking for a quick bite. |
| Lost and Found: |
I packed out some broken cheap sunglasses. |

| Comments: |
Decided to head up to Gorham at 11 am with fingers crossed the parking wouldn’t be full. Only about 6 other vehicles upon arrival. Beautiful dry sunny day to hike across the ledges to Moriah. Some breeze to keep away the bugs up high, and views for days. This was my fifth trip to Moriah and I’ve never seen the trail so dry. Water crossing isn’t much more than a trickle and some of the small streams higher up are nearly dry. Plan on no extra water sources after the first couple miles. We need the rain :( |
