An excellent day to spend in the Pemigewasset Wilderness. Despite humid, hot conditions down low, variable cloud cover and light winds kept temperatures very nice at upper elevations. Trails in great shape with all but a couple blowdowns throughout the entire hike. A huge thanks to the trail maintainers on Franconia Ridge Trail,Garfield Ridge Trail, and the ax master on Bondcliff trail for recent clearing of blowdowns. it was nice meeting several.backpackers and thru hikers today. Garfield spring is running nicely and is ice cold. beware of green moss descending beyond this as i took quite a slide over rocks. The spigot at Galehead hut is also available. The new cedar roof is looking great. The first crossing after descending Bondcliff is dry,#2,#3 and beyond are flowing nicely for refills |
