Skyland has several old blowdowns and needs some brushing in areas, but that only adds to the charm of this route. Hurricane Gap Trail below High Cabin is an eroded trench. Erosion from heavy use also present on Clark Trail below Hurricane Gap junction. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
We saw two loveable and friendly pups on Rimrock who were happy to share our turkey meat sticks (with owner permission). |

| Bugs: |
A nice breeze mostly kept them at bay all day, but I did pick up five ticks along the way. |

| Comments: |
Northbound traverse of Skyland Trail and Cardigan's long southern ridge beginning at Alexandria Four Corners and ending at Cardigan Lodge.
All of these trails were mainly dry with just minor areas of mud. Ledges were all dry although there's nothing too steep too worry about in this area. We skipped the main summit of Cardigan due to sapping energy levels from the heat and humidity and only went as high as South Peak.
Fantastic views and excellent ledge walking as always along this remote route and we didn't see anyone until Orange Mtn. |
