SOBO Sunapee Ridge traverse from the Andrew Brook trailhead in Newbury to Martin Rd. in Washington, about 11.5 mi.
Andrew Brook Trail was the wettest and muddiest trail today, but that's to be expected after the recent rains. The MSG was damp to start but dried out well by the afternoon. We lunched at Steve Galpin Shelter and also did the short side trip to The Overlook.
A beautiful day for this long walk in the woods. Things started out cool and overcast, but as the day went on it became sunnier. Great views from all the outlooks. This ridge provides a wide variety of terrain and is well worth exploring.
Only a few other folks out today, including one NOBO hiker and couple staying overnight at Galpin. |
