| Water Crossing Notes: |
We avoided the first two crossings by following the bushwack on the left side of the trail. The third crossing was not easy and we went up the trail to see if we could find an easier place to cross without getting wet. There were two trees laying across the river and we balanced our way across them, climbed up the hill and came to the trail quickly. Most people were taking off their boots and wading across. The water had a lot of power to it and I was uncomfortable doing it that way. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Several trees down, but we could get around, over, or under easily. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Two dogs today. One was carried across the river and the other made it on his own. |
|

None that bothered. |

| Comments: |
The trail is is good condition and we enjoyed the moderate to difficult climb. I did not enjoy the river crossing via balance beam, but I don't do well with certain heights. We put our spikes on near the top of South Twin, but we are always overly cautious. The rotting monorail will be gone very soon and most hikers were bare booting. The view from the lookout before the summit of North Twin was stunning, but it took our breath away from South Twin. It was my 41st and I would have been happy to finish with that mountain! Everyone we met today was happy and friendly. That can make a difference! |
