Comments
Comments: Trail was in good shape; most blowdowns had been moved aside or cleared and there were only a few patches of snow left. No need for traction. Day started out humid and turned windy and rainy toward late morning. Trail was VERY slippery in areas with soft wet leaves covering some of the rocks. Even my heavy-duty backpacking boot tread was no match for them and I had a couple of close calls. Very muddy, lots of standing water. I had ankle-high waterproof boots and did okay without gators. Lots of great bird sightings today, including a very friendly chap on the socked-in overlook, a white-throated sparrow I think. Flowers are in bloom, the spring colors are vivid, and the air is fragrant!
