Good hike on a beautiful, warm day. Livermore Trail is an easy walk to Mt. Tripyramid Trail, which begins a steeper climb to the North Slide (doing the loop clockwise). The slide can be tricky at times with hand use, choose your line carefully. The trail exits top left of the slide near the cairn. Back into the trees at the top the flies started appearing. The blackfiles made a lot of noise but did not bite yet. The gnats did, and there were a few mosquitos. Not all the time, but variously over the peaks to the South Slide.
Trails in good/great shape, dry minimal markings but easy to follow. Note: Take the side trail to Norway Rapids on the way back, great place to cool off and relax before the last 1.2 miles back to the parking lot. 8 hour hike including stops. |
