Great morning to be in the mountains!!! Quiet too, didn't see another person until almost at the Ridge Trail. Most of the trail is dry, but upper elevations before ridge trail had patches of running water, ice / loose granular snow; easy to get around. I was happy to have my spikes for the last 0.2 miles since it was steep with icy patches (covered in running water).... Many people were coming up w/o spikes, so it was passable, but I was happy to have my spikes. Bring rock spikes this time of the year.
Many flowers out to enjoy this time of the year (trilliums, trout lilies, spring beauties, hobble bush viburnums, lady slippers, star flowers, canker root, anemones, baneberry, twisted stalk, and canada mayflowers. Such a great time of the year to enjoy wildflowers. |
