| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Dorchester road is a dirt road, but it is smooth with few bumps. The parking lot was a little muddy in areas, but I had no trouble parking in my FWD car. There was only two other cars and a school bus there this morning. There is a sign saying no parking allowed on Dorchester road strictly enforced. |

The lambert ridge trail is beautiful! I highly recommend taking it when hiking this mountain. There were some cool quartzite ledges with views towards the summit of smarts mountain. It was in good shape for the most part. Most of the trail is dry with avoidable mud. The part with the bog bridges does have some significant mud and standing water. The rock slabs where the metal rungs are were wet and slippery, so they were a little tricky. The ranger trail was not in very good shape. There was significant unavoidable mud, and running water on the trail. The trap door at the top of the tower was propped open, and I was able to go into the top level for the views. I continued past the tower to find the true summit, but there was no view there. There was a decent view from the tent site however. |
