Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All water crossings were easily done.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple of blowdowns. One is causing a herd path off to the side. Trail needs brusing back for much of the section from Rt. 112 to South. Hikers are walking off trail in mud rather than on the rocks placed for crossing a muddy area because of this. Erosion on upper parts of Mt. Kinsman trail are taking a toll on the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Plenty of water on trail though a bit dry for a dog from the steeps after Harrington Pond until down the Mt. Kinsman Trail. Also some good mud spots if your dog (like most) is so inclined.
Bugs
Bugs: NONE!!!!!

Comments
Comments: Would probably never done this section of Kinsman Ridge Trail if not for our AT adventure. What a great trail from Rt.112 to South Kinsman. Up and down, lots of mud, slippery rocks etc. but beautiful. Eliza Brook is very picturesque as is Harrington Pond and looking up at South Kinsman shoulder. The climb from the pond to South is very steep, slabby, and fun. Would not want to descend it. No views at all today as we were in clouds almost the entire trip (until about 1 mile left from Mt. Kinsman parking lot:( ).
