Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of room on both sides of the road. Only a half-dozen cars when we got there and none when we left.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing wider than my bathtub.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are four fresh blowdowns on Tremont (one tree still has buds on it). The first is the toughest since it came down the middle of the trail. The Brunel and Owl’s Cliff Spur are in generally good shape, though there’s a stretch on Brunel near the bottom of the steep section coming off the peak of Tremont where there’s been a lot of erosion that has made the trail essentially loose gravel on a very steep gradient. One of us slipped.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several enjoying themselves today!
Bugs
Bugs: Saw a few. They’re definitely coming...

Comments
Comments: I’ve decided that Mt. Tremont should be renamed Mt. Wedge because it’s basically a wedge that sticks up out of the ground. Even so it has one of my all-time favorite views in the Whites. We continued on to Owl’s Cliff before retracing our steps (which meant we essentially climbed the steepest section of Tremont twice). Trails are generally in good shape aside from the handful of things I mentioned above.
