Comments
Comments: We planned to hike the ridge to show off the beauty of the white mountains to a visiting friend but i had it in my mind to be flexible as the weather was variable. Snow patches around 3500’ but we walked around and over and never needed traction. Hank found plenty of snow to roll in off the trail. Saw a helicopter making drops at the hut. And saw lots of weather rolling in when we took a break at the hut. We started up Greenleaf, approaching the summit in wind and through the clouds. Kept seeing a few patches of blue ski. We got to the summit and found shelter from the wind pretty quickly. Had a snack in the short but intense foam pellet hail storm and due to visibility decided to go back down Greenleaf. All in all a great day with fun weather and very cool views. The ridge iced up during the storm and snow covered our tracks on Greenleaf but down below, some snow melt and easy going.
