Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, May 9, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Four other cars when we arrived at 10, six when we left around 3. Room for two-dozen more. Just don’t park along the little road before the footbridge since that is for residents only.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The boards laid across that first crossing down by the houses are starting to rot. Wouldn’t be surprised if they gave way under a heavy load. We crossed one-at-a-time.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Other than a few step-overs and one duck-under, the only major problem is a spruce that came down right down the middle of the path. It’s recent since the tree’s still got green needles. This is before Mt. Crawford. There’s already a well-worn path around it (which shows just how much traffic this route sees).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several including a white one who had found some black mud...
Bugs
Bugs: Saw a few. Killed a dear fly on my hand.

Comments
Comments: Bushwhacked out to the rarely visited Crawford Dome in order to visit the ledge off the western flank. Trails were in pretty good shape. There was some mud on Davis Path past the Mt. Crawford summit spur. The brush up on Crawford Dome is quite thick. It’s not an easy bushwhack. But it does provide an interesting view: Crawford, Stairs, and Resolution in a single panorama.
