Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All water crossings were easy, low water levels.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were several down trees that were somewhat difficult to navigate around on Frankenstein Cliff trail. The other trails seemed good. Near Arethusa falls, it looks as if the mountain side is unstable, looks like there has been recent minor cave-ins to the water.

Comments
Comments: This short hike is usually great to do in spring, but Arethusa falls was a little anti-climatic. I was expecting a big flow rate, but the river was relatively meager. Even though there was not much water, the falls were nice to visit due it being quiet since it's still early May, and many of the tourists who do not wish to do any hard hiking have not shown up yet. The falls along Bemis Brook trail are quite pretty. There were one or two small patches of snow, but they were all away from the trail. Bemis Brook trail was mostly dry. The one slippery section was on Frankenstein Cliff trail going below part of the cliff. There was some water running down cliff and across the trail over some smooth rocks. That area also had a lot of loose dirt, so I would recommend a little bit of caution there. It was cold by the falls with the water blowing its cold air towards the trail. All around, it was a fairly good break-in hike, except that Falcon Cliff is not very impressive. There are limited views that don't make up for the steep climb up to it on the spur trail.
