Comments
Comments: A good day today on a trail that doesn't seem to get much action. No snow until Kenduskeag, and it's nothing that any winter gear will help with. (snowshoes might help, but there is just no sense in taking the shoes for an 11 mile stroll to put them on for three stretches....) Just pick your path and step gently, and you won't sink too badly.
Really a good hike overall. Plenty of nice forest to look at, several pretty little water features, and some downright impressive views both at the top, and at a couple viewpoints along the way. The summit is spacious and truly affords some stunning visuals. I imagine if this were a shorter hike, it would be massively popular for the picnic crowd. We had the place totally to ourselves today, only saw one other person all day.
