Took the bypass of the first two Little River crossing. Quickly determined to wade across the Little River versus trying to find a rock hop or the upstream double log crossing. Removed boots and used water shoes. Water shoes have a nice grip. The water if not moving could have been ice. Bur. |

| Comments: |
The first 2.2 miles of North Twin trail was rather pleasant. Had water crossing concerns and debated finding an alternated hike. with the water shoes and a decent crossing location just downstream, the crossing turned non-eventful. Running water and rocky trail up to El. 3400 where snow and ice monorail started. Out on rock spikes when it became apparent the snow was consistent. Spikes stayed on until same location on return. Nice firm track as long as you stay centered on the track. About 2-3 feet of snow max in places. A few short bare ground spots less than about 50 feet long on North Twin Spur Trail. North Twin Trail appeared to not have seen any traffic in a while. North Twin Spur had one set of in and out tracks from South Twin either earlier in the morning of yesterday. Saw no people until about 3/4 mile below North Twin on the return. First person was a coworker working on first round of 48, with 3 remaining after the Twins. Then two woman a few minutes later. All in all, a good day. Switched to summer pack and boots for first time since October 2020. |
