Comments
Comments: Zealand Rd, while still gated is in excellent shape. Could be opened tomorrow (at least up the Hale) if the Forest Service wanted to. There were attendants in a golf cart working at the campgrounds so hopefully not too much longer.
Hale Brook Tr. was in great shape. Only one or two leaners that could be taken out with a hand saw. There is some fairly serious erosion on some of the real steep pitches. Bare boots and ground until about 3300'. From there you could bareboot but spikes were easy. Trail in the center was stable. Spoke to a couple that came up Fire Wardens and they said that the last mile or so required spikes.
