Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The third water crossing is tricky and potentially dangerous at present. The water levels are high and there is good volume and force of water. I was able to cross just downstream of the trail. I suspect the water level will be increasing the next few days. Use caution.

Comments
Comments: Perfect day to hike out to Owls Head. Rainy and overcast. Per the last report, the elevated monorail begins at about 3500 feet, which is not much further after the Brutus Bushwhack comes into the Owls Head Path. The monorail was mostly stable, but getting soft. Felt much more like spring today - muddy.

The third water crossing is no joke at present. Definitely use caution. I did try bushwhacking upstream a bit to see if there were any better options. I went maybe a 10th of a mile and decided to come back to the trail. I was fixing to call it and probably would have bailed. Upon returning to the trail I was able to find a place to cross just downstream (of course) that was feasible without wading. If the water level gets much higher the location I crossed will probably not be an option. Keep in mind that the water level on the return trip can be higher than on the way out.
