| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lot was full on my return but cars just parked along the road on both sides. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock steps. The streams are low. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I trimmed one blowdown enough at the upper stream crossing so the trail can be used, but it should be cleared more. Two other blowdowns, one just a stepover. Trail has a few places that could use some brushing but nothing major yet. Footbed the usual summer mix of superb earth or earth and stone with eroded places and even a few scree like spots. Active footbed has jumped its "banks" in places. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Bring water. There is very little water above the last stream crossing; just a small seep around 2500' and another above 3000'. Very easy trail for the mighty tough little dog, but not enough sippin and dippin spots for his taste. He met quite a few dogs met on the return leg. |
|
| Bugs: |
None. Time to remove the insect repellent I never use from my pack. |

| Comments: |
This was Plan B; I let the NOAA radio forecast and early clouds talk me out of doing Isolation. The hike up today was a lot like yesterday's entire Hale hike - humid, warm, cloudy, but not intolerably uncomfortable on fast easy trails that we pretty much had to ourselves. After a comfy snack in the blowing clouds we started down but stopped to talk trails with Waumbek when he came up. Shortly a young girl and her dad came up, her first 4K! Congrats. Then a crowd appeared from the campsite so we started down, and of course this was just as the clouds lifted and the views opened up. But it was a delightful boogie down. |
