We took the Liberty Springs trail up to Mt Liberty and then hiked over to Mt Flume and retraced our steps. Overall, the trail is in excellent condition. We we able to bare boot about 2/3 of the way up Liberty as the trail is mostly dry and clear of snow/ice. The remaining 1/3 to the summit was covered in an icy monorail, although the summit is completely bare. Light traction is highly recommended. Franconia Ridge Trail from Mt Liberty to Mt Flume is still covered in deep packed snow, which made walking very easy. We chose not to attempt the Flume Slide Trail on either the ascent or descent. |
