Had planned on doing the route posted by the Bonds but saw this road as we were nearing their parking spot so took it. Saved us several hundred feet of elevation gain. From where we parked we headed up some old logging roads. The bottom of the first was pretty well covered with logging debris but once we climbed above that the woods were pretty clear. The climb was moderate to easy at first then steepened as we got closer to the wind turbines. Lots of old woods roads and moose herd paths to follow almost all the way up. Popped out at turbine 31/32? Walked the road the rest of the way to Turbine #26 and the recognized highpoint. Took the road back to past Turbine #28 and headed into the woods. A bit steeper and messier this way but we soon rejoined the path we had followed up. |
