Comments
Comments: Back at the north Welton Falls trail: could not believe we missed the blazes the other day. A fairly easy trail to follow! Took Elwell trail west undulating up and down for several miles, slowly gaining elevation. Several nice views from the open ledges and logged areas along the way. Turned onto the Oregon Mountain trail which took us to the summit then descended to the junction with Carter Gibbs. Down Carter Gibbs we went: remembered that section with the rope which had been much less thrilling going up! Trail eased as we approached the Elwell trail. Took the Elwell back up to the junction with the Oregon Mountain trail to complete the Elwell Trail! Back down again to Old Dicey Road which is not signed where it turns off of Elwell; sign appears once you have actually reached and hiked some of the gravel section of the road. Passed through a gate limiting access to hikers. Continued down Old Dicey Road, making a quick out and back of about .1 of Lower Manning we still needed, then back to the road and car #2.
