Comments
Comments: This section of the 20 mile Montalban Ridge is lightly travelled and definitely worth exploring. Most of the Saturday day hikers were only interested in summiting Mt Stanton, as it just a 1.5 mile ascent. But if you have the time, I highly suggest you keep going. On the east side of the ridge there's a nice view of Iron Mt and Mt Washington. Mt Pickering is .5 miles beyond Mt Stanton and the Crippies stretch out another mile after summiting Mt Pickering. There are numerous lookouts to the east and west in this bumpy section. If your looking for a longer hike, continue on to Mt Langdon. Even though there's not a view on Mt Langdon, there is a lot to appreciate in the beautiful forest. Mt Langdon does have a canister jar, if you're working on the NH 500 list.
