Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Drifts, Mud - Significant, Snow - Spring Snow, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rock hopping across streams. Running water down the trail in a few places, not easily avoidable without widening the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Seemed to be a spot on star lake trail without cairns - even on a day with great visibility, needed to check maps. Possible that blazes were covered in snow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few dogs (awesome) and a few places with dog poop in the middle of the trail (not so great). Please pick up after your dog.
Bugs
Bugs: None noticed.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: We went up valley way to look for spikes we lost last week, which were spotted by rocket21. We were not able to find them. If you do see them, please let me know! Found an orange water bottle in a tan insulation thing at 2700 ft elevation on Airline trail. We brought it to the trailhead and left it at the map there.

Comments
Comments: Gorgeous day. Started at 7am up Valley Way Trail, which was completely dry for the first mile or so. Rapidly changed to slushy slippery snow, and we put on snowshoes (which were very helpful). In short order made our way up to the hut. Occasional gusts of wind, but nothing too bad, and incredible views. Followed Star Lake Trail around the back of Adams, which was a great choice - saw noone until we were nearly at the peak, and the mountain protected us from all of the wind. Unpacked powder here - definitely needed the snowshoes. Snowshoes off for the last scramble to the top, and then we came down the other side to follow Airline trail. Airline was great snow for a while, but ~3500 ft to ~2500 ft was pretty miserable picking our way through very slippery slush on rocks. Below that the trail had several inch deep running water for a ways, which dried out as we made our way down. Didn't use snowshoes at all on the descent - too rocky.
