Comments
Comments: Easy hike up Falling Waters--barebooted the whole way to Lafayette. The ridge was brutal however...very strong, cold wind gust. The only section where I wish I had crampons was coming down off Lafayette. But once I was below the tree line spikes were enough. Oh...one hiker heading up Falling Waters bloodied his head on a sharp stub from a blow down across the trail (below Shining Rock). I wouldn't consider this a hazard because if you're paying attention its simple to avoid. But he was probably not the first person to hit that stub.
