Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Gate on FR 380 is closed. Was hoping it would be open since Passaconaway Road is now open. This adds 1.1 miles and 250' of road walking to reach the trailhead proper. High Street is in good shape but don't be fooled there are 4-5 small but deadly, hard to see potholes.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easy rock hop on Thompson Falls trail
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good shape. There is no sign on the upper Thompson Falls Trailhead. When I reached what I thought was the Thompson Falls Trail (half mile after actual trail) there was a damaged sign on the ground. Figured I was at the right place and followed unlabeled Gaia trails for about a mile until I reached the lower intersection with Thompson Falls. I then realized I had been on bike trails the entire time (upper and lower stony brook). A missing sign, a broken sign, incorrect Gaia info, and me not double-checking guidebook was the perfect storm leading to an almost two-mile detour.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: very easy dog hike. don't let them run out into the brook above Thompson Falls it looked slick and is quite the drop-off!
Bugs
Bugs: none
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: found a Salomon soft flask on switchback section of Moat Mineral Site Trail. meant to drop it at trailhead but forgot and it stayed in my pack. I guess it is finders keepers. Super worried about germs so I think I will cover it with 3 or 4 masks and figure I will be safe to drink from it

Comments
Comments: nice area. Didn't explore the mineral site as it was my third redline hike of the morning and wanted to get home and drink beer and dig holes in the yard with my three-year old. Plenty of tedious road walking/jogging on this hike. Lots of fresh bear scat on FR 379. Thompson Falls were pretty cool but didnt want to get too close and geek out in case Fin decided to fool around and tumble to her demise
