Comments
Comments: All the Spring conditions today after Friday's storm. Started out with a shallow but complete snow cover. We put spikes on about halfway to the loop intersection to help with traction. Once past the intersection we encountered areas of bare ground, which was muddy and leafy. Most of the rock was dry with some wet slippery areas, especially the exposed roots. Allens Ledge was dry but we kept spikes on anyway for the remainder of the climb. Spikes off on summit. Immediate views were clear and beautiful. Couldn't see Washington today though. Descent was slippery, spikes back on. Melting snow from the trees was like a rainstorm, but refreshing! East Ledges were clear and dry. From this point, the trail itself was slush/mud so we barebooted. Past the intersection, what had been snow cover this morning was now snow free, but muddy. We saw lots of groups, most had doggos with them. Most were barebooting and heading up East Ledges first (whereas we went up Allens Ledge first). Any day on the trails is a good day.
