|Date of Hike:
||Saturday, April 17, 2021|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Wildcat ski area was thankfully plowing some areas for parking, despite being closed |
||Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts, Snow - Spring Snow |
|Water Crossing Notes:
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Couple small blowdowns on the ridge that are either step over or easy walkarounds |
||Saw many dogs and dog poops on the skin track |
|Lost and Found:
||Lots of skiers out enjoying this surprise April snow - they established a beautiful packed skin track up to the top of the lifts. I’d guestimate 18ish” of new snow, which carries across the ridge to Wildcat A. Wildcat ski trails were mostly bare last week; today skiers seemed to have no problem descending without scraping bottom...if that gives you an idea of how much snow Pinkham notch received from this storm. |
At the time I descended, only four of us had snowshoed out to Wildcat A and back, laying down the start of a nicely packed trail. Unfortunately we will probably continue to need snowshoes at higher elevations for a while yet. Ew.
