Put snowshoes on after about 15 minutes and wore them for the duration all the way back to the bottom. On the ski trails the snow was slushy and loose, and the snowshoes really helped with traction. On the ridge the snow was slightly more solid. There is still deep snow in places, 3' or more judging from the post holes, combined with exposed rock in just a few places. I would not do this hike anytime soon without snowshoes for the floatation once you get up on the ridge. The trail on the ridge is in bad shape from all the post holes and if you're not paying attention you will roll off the monorail. |
