Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All passable with care especially up top on Ammonoosuc trail. Big snow bank that requires a little scramble up when crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Jewell looks like a pine tree bomb went off in the past month in one section in the woods. Bog boy did use his saw on some of it but larger cutting tools need to be brought in to really clean some of it up.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met several enjoying the day by the hut. One very friendly golden retriever even sat on the roof of the hut with me.
Bugs
Bugs: Some flying around but no biting.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Only a bic lighter from the summit of Washington, packed it out.

Comments
Comments: Couldn’t pass up a windless day to go above treeline. Warm temps made for a chance to take an leisurely pace to grab two for April. Definitely spring conditions out there. We used rock spikes, good spikes and snowshoes. Plenty of chances to get your feet wet with running water on the trail and postholing was easy on the descent. I switched back to snowshoes once in the woods on jewell and they helped for about a mile. Then it was back to rock spikes to the car. The snow is melting fast but if heading up I would expect to need multiple footwear changes. The traction was helpful even on the spring snow. Plenty of skiers out there too. I guess there is still some decent snow for those brave souls who back country ski. Monroe amd Washington done in all 4 seasons for us now :)
