Trails
Trails: Moat Mountain Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, April 10, 2021
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Watch out for the no parking signs on the road. We parked in the lot, but when we left we noticed all the cars parked outside the signs had tickets on them.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only un-bridged one is easily rock-hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are too big blowdowns on the way up to South Moat from Passaconaway Road. One is very close to the start and fell right down the middle of the trail. Definitely could use some attention because it’s in such a location that it could throw people off the trail without them realizing it. Second one can more easily be walked around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of great pups out today.
Bugs
Bugs: They’re heeeere....
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: It was a zoo out there today and the trail was strewn with lost stuff. Too much to carry back to the lot. Ugh.

Comments
Comments: Got our first vaccine shots so decided to take it easy today. Forgot just how much of a zoo this one can be. It was packed.

The majority of the trail was dry as a bone. There was one very short stretch of rapidly deteriorating monorail between South and Middle Moats. There were also one or two small spots where water running down the ledges made it a little slick.
