Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Be careful with the small crossings on the Scar Tr. Snow bridges don't hold and I got a nice shoe soaking on one
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I cleaned up some branches on the many blowdowns on the bottom 1mi of Valley Way. All of them are low enough to easy step over, needs an axe/saw to remove
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of happy dogs out there today
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitos are alive and spotted but slow and sluggish and little nuisance
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A red nalgene water bottle about 100 yards up Scar Tr from the jct w/Valley Way

Comments
Comments: A few patches of the icy remnants of monorail below the first couple minor stream crossings at 2300', otherwise mostly dry trail with some mud. Between 2300-2700' is a really ugly transition zone from summer conditions to spring conditions with every type of possible trail conditions I tagged above. From 2700'-3200' at the top of Scar Loop is mostly solid monorail with some patches of bare, dry ground and mud; Durand Scar ledges are dry rock. Scar Tr from here to the jct w/Air Line was some solid spring snow with a few patches of bare ground, I wore snowshoes from here until I returned to the top jct of Scar Loop. I barebooted from the car to the top of Scar Loop and from here back, except for putting spikes on for the top 1/4mi of Valley Way below the jct w/Scar Tr. Fun day to be out exploring and got some nice spots to myself.
