Bareboot the first 1.5 miles or so then switch to spikes until back at the same point. Try was dry with very little mud. Bare ground low then gradually becomes a minor monorail that was easy to avoid and still stay on the trail. Eventually is switches to full packed snow but no real ice. With the cloud cover today there wasn't much melting and everything stayed firm so snow shoes were not needed. We even managed to bushwhack down to Cabot Spring without snow shoes and only a couple spruce traps. |
