completed my 100th 4,000 footer today, very fun but cold day today. Lake of the Clouds hut is full of thick ice around and although I did it in spikes, it would be a good idea to do it in crampons. Saw a mother and daughter nearing the hut in sweatpants and sneakers, can't believe they made it up that far but I warned them about the wind chill (-20's today) above treeline. They assured me that they had all their winter gear but I was concerned about the footwear choices, hope they made it down okay. saw lots of skiers and happy people out, make sure to wear sunscreen!! |
