Just when I put my winter stuff away. :) Recent snow had left a dusting down low with 2-3 in. at the top; light snowshowers fell all day. It stayed cold today so most of the mud was still fairly solid, although less so on the way down. As it warms up, this route will become more sloppy. I carried spikes but never considered using them, and snowshoes would be overkill. From the fire tower site, I did the short and easy bushwhack to the unrecognized high point.
The recent logging has opened up some interesting views to the Kinsmans and to Cooley itself. Only one other person seen today. Otherwise, a very quiet walk in the woods. |
