Great day. First in the lot and on the trail. I was surprised at how much fresh powder covered the trail, at some points as much as 6-7 inches of fresh snow. It was actively snowing for most of my time. I broke out the trail w/ snowshoes and kept them on for much of the hike. Summit area was a bit tricky with thick slippery ice on the slabs and obscured by loose powder, so I switched to spikes for that section. Slow and low was the way to go. The summit was very cold and windy but the undercast made it worth it. The snow was perfect for some aggressive downhill snowshoeing on the way out. Great chatting with many happy hikers on my way down |
