Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot was all to ourselves- and it is quite large (hard packed grassy area) with two stonewalled entrances and very obvious large Forest Society signs (one nailed to the tree at the first entrance of the lot, and one free-standing wooden sign at the second entrance of the lot) on South Road (across from the trailhead) ROAD ACCESS on SOUTH ROAD (off from Lempster Mountain Road)- it was raining/misting this morning but nearly all 2 miles of this road is NOT FOR A COMPACT CAR with small wheels. The (probably otherwise hard-packed gravel road) dirt road was muddy and you do feel your vehicle sink a bit and get pulled a bit in a few spots when driving on the road and can clearly visual tire markings from vehicles previously having driven on it. We absolutely would have turned around and just road-walked to the trailhead if it was unsafe or we felt that we would have caused damage to the road. There are many residential homes on this road and the worst of it is AFTER the "snow plow turn around" spot on South Road (? approxmitely 1.5 miles in from Lempster Mountain Road)
